2024 Canadian Brewing Awards Edition

Greetings, beer lovers!  Happy Friday (or perhaps not so happy), and once (or not) again, ‘tis chingchongchinaman as your guest FNBB blogger tonight, with esquimaux taking a well-earned night off from FNBB duties.  Recycling an old topic, as is 3CM the loser’s wont, tonight’s FNBB anticipates Canada Day (eh) by a few days, showcasing the winners of the 2024 Canadian Brewing Awards.  First, as usual, the top two awards:

Alberta:  32 (number in 2023 = 40)

British Columbia = 48 (number in 2023 = 51)

Manitoba = 10 (number in 2023 = 5)

New Brunswick = 7 (number in 2023 = 8)

Newfoundland and Labrador = 2 (number in 2023 = 5)

Northwest Territories = 1 (number in 2023 = 0)

Nova Scotia = 12 (number in 2023 = 12)

Ontario = 48 (number in 2023 = 39)

Prince Edward Island = 4 (number in 2023 = 2)

Quebec = 14 (number in 2023 = 27)

Saskatchewan = 5 (number in 2023 = 2)

Unlike last year, there were no honorable mentions, so that even though the number of categories went up by 2, and thus the number of medalists went up by 6, the overall awards tally dropped to 183 compared to last year’s 191.  Still, it’s nice to see a % uptick for Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan, as well as a new addition to the list from the Northwest Territories, at least compared to last year.  As well, however, some provinces took a hit, namely Quebec and Alberta.  It’s still no surprise that British Columbia and Ontario still hold the top two spots, although it’s interesting that they tied for first place in overall medal count this year.  

So, closing in the same spirit like last year, this makes for another 183 craft beers that 3CM the loser will never live long enough to sample 🙂 .  To compound self’s loserness, tonight’s featured beer chez 3CM isn’t even Canadian 😉 .  Instead, it’s a Boulevard Single Wide IPA, your standard garden variety IPA, but a good one for sure.  Boulevard is based in KC, MO, of course; thus, the mention of the meta disconnect in the picture caption at the top 🙂 .
